The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is a recognized leader in heart and lung surgery. Our experience with complex cardiothoracic problems and knowledge of the latest advances in this area have helped to establish NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center as a major referral center for cardiac patients from across the country and around the world.
No matter how ill a patient or how rare a condition, the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is well equipped to provide the best care. In fact, our program has one of the lowest mortality rates following coronary artery bypass surgery in the state of New York. The partnership of the gifted physicians, surgeons, and nurses at Weill Cornell together with the highly accomplished researchers of Weill Medical College of Cornell University brings a unique combination of these unparalleled resources to patient care. Together, these capabilities make Weill Cornell an institution world renowned for the best minds and most comprehensive cardiothoracic care.
