Our Program at New York Hospital Queens

The Heart Surgical Program at New York Hospital Queens was initiated in 1996 under the auspices of the Weill Cornell Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Now in our 10th year providing comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care to the Borough of Queens, the Department remains a fully integrated, satellite program of the Manhattan campus. Read the latest issue of NewYork-Hospital Queens Insight Newsletter Our surgeons, who are full time faculty members in the Weill Cornell Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, are committed to providing the same outstanding level of care that patients have come to expect from NewYork-Presbyterian. Through the last decade, we have consistently ranked among the top ten statewide in successful outcomes of the Coronary Artery Bypass Graft procedure (CABG). As we move into our second decade of innovation and excellence in Queens, we continue to provide a complete spectrum of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures in adult patients:
  • For cardiac patients, we offer on and off pump CABG, valve repair and replacement, repair of aortic aneurysm/dissection, and closure of septal defects. A new initiative includes surgical treatment for atrial fibrillation, which can be performed concomitantly with other cardiac procedures, or as a stand-alone procedure through a minimally invasive approach.

  • For patients in need of non-cardiac thoracic surgical procedures, we provide pulmonary resections for benign and malignant lesions, resection of esophageal tumors, and surgery for gastro-esophageal reflux (GERD). Often times, pulmonary resections are performed with a minimally invasive VATS approach. Additionally, we are performing pulmonary lobectomy using minimally invasive videoscopic techniques.
